AQA GCSE History Resources

We take this opportunity to provide detailed information about AQA GCSE History Resources. Gcsepapers.co.uk presents the AQA GCSE History qualification which offers national and international perspectives to study a range of periods from history.

Changes:

According to Ofqual’s announcement, there are some changes in AQA GCSE History Resources you need to know, that are applicable to summer 2021 only.

The GCSE History students for the 2021 summer series, have to answer questions on 3 out of 4 studies. A variety of Compulsory and optional studies are offered to the students.

The compulsory study: the wider world depth study.

Optional studies: Students have to answer questions on 2 out of the 3.

  •        The period study.
  •        The thematic study.
  •        The British depth study with the historic environment.

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar (SPaG)

Till now 8 marks were allocated by AQA to assess SPaG, with 4 marks in the wider world depth study and 4 marks the thematic study.

However, AQA has reduced the overall number of marks allocated to assessing SPaG to 4 marks that will be attached to question 4 on the compulsory wider world depth study.

AQA is removing the SPaG marks from question 4 on the optional thematic study to ensure that all students will have access to the same number of SPaG mark opportunities, regardless of the combination of optional topics chosen.

Marks allocation

In 2021 students will be marked out of a total of 124 marks instead of 168 marks as they were in former years.

  •       Compulsory study: 44 marks + 4 marks for SPaG.
  •       Optional studies: 40 marks.

Total exam time

In 2021 students will have 3 hours of total exam time, equating to one hour per study instead of the 4 years total in previous years.

Entry codes

The alterations for 2021 also include the GCSE History normal entry codes.

The questions will remain exactly the same, with no change in the format and wording.

The mark-schemes for each question will also be unaltered.

The specification content for each individual topic will also be the same.

There will be no change in historic environment sites for 2021. The latest resource packs for these are available on gcsepapers.co.uk.
