Changes for 2021
According to Ofqual’s announcement, there are some changes to the GCSE science assessment in summer 2021.
Please note: these changes only apply to assessments being completed this academic year.
Practicals can be studied through demonstrations
If there is no possibility to carry out the Practicals in person then the students have an opportunity to study them through demonstrations. However, it is still recommended to do them in person where possible. Students should learn about the practical apparatus, techniques and processes thoroughly to demonstrate their understanding in exams.
No other changes
There are no planned changes in the AQA assessments for GCSE Chemistry (8462)
Ofqual’s decisions on summer 2021 exams are that exams in GCSE Science specifications will follow the same structure and format as those in summer 2019.
